Celebrity Detox Star teaches Zen Meditation at the Rosewell Centre

If Channel 4’s sensationalist reality show “Extreme Celebrity Detox” left you wondering what meditation had to do with detoxification, Master of the Zen School Kris Deva North, the man who taught Rebecca Loos where to put her Jade Egg and last seen on TV swinging a very heavy weight ‘down there’, shows the real reality: how traditional meditational practices can achieve extraordinary results.

“Altered states of consciousness can uninstall programmes of habit and addiction,” says Kris. “So many people have found increased confidence, motivation, energy, habit-control, how to manage stress and, although I may not know each individual’s problem or situation, I do know we all have the resources to cope. Through these practices I can help you connect with the deeper levels of consciousness to access those resources. No, you don’t need to swing weights to reach an altered state. That is rather more advanced practice.”

Kris, who trained in the Taoist Arts with the Master Mantak Chia and in NLP with Paul McKenna, has practised Healing meditation for over 30 years. In 1993 he co-founded the Zen School of Shiatsu and Healing Tao Centre in London.

Devon on the edge of beautiful Dartmoor, the Healing Tao Summer Retreat from 13th to 21st August. Steps 2 and 3 on the Journey.

Step 2: Managing your love-life – this is not a couples workshop although couples are welcome, working as individuals. Learning how to circulate the generative forces from the genital organs to the higher energy centres invigorates and rejuvenates all the vital functions, improves health, and slows depletion of the genetic energy-bank, or “Ancestral Qi.” Men and women report more satisfying relationships as a result of doing the practices and feeling more energy.

13th & 14th August, £197 at Yelverton, Devon. Booking through Healing Tao UK. Step 1 is pre-requisite

Step 3: Thinking of a retreat as a real treat, this must be the closest to heaven on earth with silent meditation and sauna, tai chi and jacuzzi, chi kung (qigong) and swimming pool, fantastic food and walks on the moor.

Internal space-clearing, like feng-shui for humans, gives internal clarity and external protection. Such pre-Taoist shamanic practices include intense self-healing experiences and an immediate increase in awareness and focus.

Many people on this summer retreat have found self-discovery through silence, and how to let go embedded conditioning, harmonising with Nature in a beautiful countryside setting, feeling the healing power of Earth, and the resources to cope with the residual effects of past baggage.

The Retreat is guided with love and care, allowing space for discussion, regeneration, relaxation and multicultural celebration reflecting the diversity of the Tao, with QiGong and Tai Chi; Sweat-lodge, dancing and singing bhajans; swimming-pool, sauna, jacuzzi; walks on the moor, sunrises and sunsets; ritual and ceremony.

14th-21st August, £789, at Yelverton, Devon. Booking through Healing Tao UK. Step 2 is pre-requisite

UK Shiatsu Society warns on student visa immigration abuse

The battle against international terror seeps into the Art of Gentle Healing with the government’s latest clamp-down on student visas. More than three hundred schools have closed because of their inability to satisfy new and stringent registration requirements.

Overseas Students from outside the European Union have always needed a student-visa to study in the UK. They had to prove payment of the school fee and ability to support themselves for their intended stay.

Now the schools come under scrutiny. Any school purporting to offer education or training to overseas students must satisfy the authorities that it is a genuine learning provider. It is not enough to have been established for a number of years, existing students, or reciprocal links with overseas schools or organisations. It must also be recognised as a school of shiatsu on the Department of Education & Skills Register of learning providers.

Our recent survey of shiatsu schools shows that only a few of even the most established would be able to comply with the new registration requirements. Kris Deva North Master of the Zen School of Shiatsu in London says “We were lucky. We have permanent premises but still had to prove ownership, teachers’ educational as well as shiatsu qualifications, and a history of training visa-students. The Inspectors also wanted to see bank statements and audited accounts, a printed prospectus, policy documents, records of attendance and other relevant documentation. We were already a registered learning provider for Career Development Loans but this is a different set-up entirely.”

This new government policy is a wake-up call for UK shiatsu schools to check out their administration, support and control systems.

Overseas schools and societies advising members or students thinking of visiting UK for shiatus training courses should direct them to the Department of Education & Skills Register. Schools are not permitted to use their registration for marketing.

Celebrity Detox Star to teach in Dublin

The man who taught Rebecca Loos where to put her Jade Egg is coming to Dublin to teach a three-day workshop on Trance Healing. Taoist Master-Trainer Kris Deva North, last seen on TV swinging a very heavy weight ‘down there’, is coming to show how extraordinary results can be achieved by going into an altered state of consciousness.

Taoist Trance, also known as Cosmic Healing, is non-contact power-healing derived from pre-Taoist shamanic practices which underly Traditional Chinese Medicine

By connecting with the etheric energy-centres and the brains of the organs, which receive impressions and store energy just like the brain in your head, you learn to project the colour-rays to heal their organic aura. Practitioners harmonise and restore a patient's energy-field without their own being depleted or contaminated.

“It is like a combination of hypnosis, reiki, spiritual healing and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming),” says Kris, who trained in the Taoist Arts with the Master Mantak Chia, in NLP with Paul McKenna, and has practised Healing for over 30 years. “Trance Healing can help relieve the symptoms of many conditions resistant to more orthodox treatment. We are healing the person more than the part.”

Kris Deva North is teaching a 3-day workshop in Cosmic Healing at the Spa Hotel, Lucan, from Friday 20th through Sunday 22nd May.
